User-Selected Nonprofit Designation Policy

Effective date: Nov 3, 2025
Operator/Donor of Record: MarketNation, Inc. (DBA: “+Shop”)

1) What this is

+Shop lets shoppers designate an IRS-listed charitable organization at checkout. +Shop is the donor of record and intends to grant 5% (or more) of the purchase price of qualifying items to the designated organization after the underlying transaction is complete and the organization is verified.

2) How designation works (before a charity onboards)

  • Your selection is a designation, not a donation by you.
  • +Shop may grant the designated amounts to the chosen organization once it completes onboarding and verification (e.g., active IRS tax-exempt status and payout connection).
  • Until onboarding is complete, +Shop does not market or sell using the charity’s name or marks.

3) Eligibility and verification

  • +Shop grants only to organizations in good standing with applicable regulators (e.g., IRS/FTB/AG, as required). If a designated organization is ineligible, suspended, or unresponsive, +Shop may grant to a similar eligible cause or to a general impact fund.
  • +Shop will invite designated organizations to officially onboard as a Verified +Shop Organization (commercial co-venturer agreement and Plaid connection).

4) Timing of grants

  • Designated amounts become eligible after product shipment and fraud review.
  • Grants are typically made on a scheduled basis (e.g., monthly/quarterly), or upon completion of onboarding if faster.

5) Transparency and receipts

  • Shoppers receive a purchase receipt showing the estimated +Shop grant amount.
  • Because +Shop is the donor, shopper purchases are not tax-deductible.

6) When a charity becomes “Verified”

  • After a nonprofit executes +Shop’s Commercial Co-Venturer (CCV) Agreement and connects a payout account, its future grants reflect “Verified” status and the organization may be featured in +Shop co-marketing where allowed by law.

7) State-specific compliance

  • In jurisdictions requiring platform registration (e.g., California AB-488), +Shop operates as a charitable fundraising platform and follows all required disclosures, eligibility checks, and reporting.
  • In jurisdictions requiring a written CCV contract before named-beneficiary advertising (e.g., New York), +Shop will not engage in CCV marketing until the charity’s CCV agreement is executed.
